BAD – In many cases, I couldn’t even bring myself to finish the book.
- An awful book. It made me physically sick and/or totally depressed. It was often unintelligible. The author should not be allowed to walk the streets.
- A lousy story poorly written. The author had no business writing a book. Or, the philosophy was so evil and destructive that it made me angry.
- Nothing by which to recommend it. It depressed me while I was reading it.
- This book wasn’t good, but it wasn’t all that bad. It was just kinda there. It was a waste of my time.
- The book had potential but failed to live up to it. I wanted to like it, but I couldn’t bring myself to do so.
- I didn’t like the book as much as I wanted or expected to. It had a good plot spoiled by poor writing, or good writing spoiled by a poor plot.
- I liked the book, but I’m not sure why. Or, I liked it, but I disagree with its philosophy. Or, I liked it, but I’m not sure I’d recommend it.
- The book was good. Not great, but good. It was educational and/or entertaining. Perhaps it had a few dull spots, but I would recommend it.
- It was a great book, very enjoyable all the way through.
- The book was nearly perfect. This is why I read: in hope of finding books like this. I never noticed what page I was on and was genuinely sorry when it was over.
MEDIOCRE – I read it, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
GOOD – I enjoyed it, and I’m glad I read it.
- Have fun!
