This was a very interesting, active week in Carp 500 history, so I’ll get right to it.
On July 1 -3, 1863, the Union Army of the Potomac defeated the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia at the Battle of Gettysburg.  President Lincoln delivered his “Gettysburg Address” four months later at the dedication of the battlefield cemetery.
